A comprehensive renovation of Maple Meadows Golf Course is underway in DuPage County, with the facility expected to reopen for play in summer 2027 following completion of a post-renovation grow-in period.
Renovation work began in November 2025 and will continue throughout all of 2026 as part of Phase I of the Maple Meadows Master Plan, approved by the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County.
The project represents a sweeping transformation of the 18-hole facility, including upgrades to golf infrastructure, course layout, drainage systems, irrigation, and visitor amenities. Improvements also extend beyond playability, with a strong emphasis on environmental stewardship through expanded native areas, enhanced wetlands, and reduced maintained turf.
In addition to on-course enhancements, clubhouse and surrounding amenities are slated for upgrades, helping modernize the overall guest experience and align the property with contemporary public golf expectations.
The renovation is designed not only to improve course conditions and pace of play, but also to position Maple Meadows for long-term operational efficiency while enhancing its role as a community recreation asset.
Once construction is complete, the course will undergo a grow-in period to allow turfgrass to fully establish before reopening to the public.
Golf Course Superintendent Jim Mzhickteno, GCSAA, is overseeing agronomic operations during the renovation, guiding the project through construction and into its next phase of course conditioning.
Owned and operated by the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County, Maple Meadows has long served as a cornerstone of public golf in the Chicago area. The current investment reflects a broader industry trend toward modernizing municipal courses with a balance of playability, sustainability, and long-term financial viability.
