Celebrate International Thank a Golf Course Superintendent Day on Sept. 8

Thank a Golf Course Superintendent Day

For the sixth year, the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA), in conjunction with other global superintendent organizations, will recognize those who keep the game on course with International Thank a Golf Course Superintendent Day on Sept. 8.

The 2026 campaign has special significance as GCSAA prepares to celebrate its 100th anniversary on Sept. 13.

Golf course management is continually evolving profession. Beyond their traditional role of turf care, they now manage large teams, have become environmental stewards, and embrace advances in technology like autonomous equipment and AI data and analytics to make informed decisions to keep their courses sustainable.

In addition to GCSAA, organizations taking part in the global event include the British and International Golf Greenkeepers Association (BIGGA), the Australian Sports Turf Managers Association (ASTMA), the Canadian Golf Superintendents Association (CGSA) and the Federation of European Golf Greenkeepers Associations (FEGGA). Together, the organizations represent more than 31,000 golf course management professionals in 78 countries.

The celebration encourages golfers and others to recognize superintendents for their hard work and dedication to the game, whether on social media, in person or through other forms of appreciation. Participants are encouraged to join the social media conversation throughout the month of September using #ThankASuper or #ThankAGreenkeeper, depending on the terminology used in their country.

During the 2025 International Thank a Golf Course Superintendent Day campaign, social media messages reached nearly 20 million followers worldwide.
