Aliso Creek Golf Course reopens this weekend

Aliso Creek Golf Course in Laguna Beach will reopen this weekend and to celebrate, it’s donating all proceeds from play on Sunday to the Laguna Relief and Resource Center.

The nine-hole course, which opened in 1950 and is on the grounds of the Aliso Creek Inn, was damaged by the heavy rain and flooding that stormed through the city in late-December, creating destruction to neighborhoods and businesses. Most of the course was covered by several feet of mud and sediment.

“While it hurt our business, it does not compare to the impact that the storm has had on many of our Laguna Beach neighbors,” said Aliso Creek Inn General Manager Kurt Bjorkman. “We have an opportunity through The Laguna Relief and Resource Center to help our community and make a difference.”

Aliso Creek Golf Course Superintendent Greg Jones said his team has replanted trees, reseeded the course and repaired tee boxes.

“It was heartbreaking to see the damage, but we are excited to reveal the progress we have made to the course,” Jones said. “The restored course is incredible.”
