Albaugh is pleased to announce that the company has received registration from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for Colonel™ XTR algaecide (EPA Reg. No. 89442-70).
Colonel™ XTR delivers simple, efficient control of a broad range of aqueous algae, including filamentous, planktonic, and macrophytic species. Its copper ethanolamine complex is designed to penetrate algal cells and deliver more active ingredient to the target area, controlling algae from the inside out.
Users can expect a visible control response within a few days of application. The specialized formulation in Colonel™ XTR reduces copper precipitation with carbonates and bicarbonates, and helps prevent mineral antagonism in water, improving the efficiency of the active ingredient.
“Algae growth and algae blooms can quickly degrade water quality and create unsightly conditions,” says Justin Watts, Director – Albaugh Specialty Products. “Colonel™ XTR has demonstrated outstanding performance against all types of algae, improving oxygen and pH levels as well as light penetration in treated water.”
Watts added, “Applicators familiar with traditional sulfate-based algaecides will undoubtedly see improved efficacy with Colonel™ XTR. It delivers enhanced copper uptake and rapid control response, resulting in more consistent and reliable performance.”
Colonel™ XTR is a complementary addition to the full product portfolio and is now available for sale exclusively through the Albaugh Specialty Products distribution network in May 2026. For more information on any, and all, products, visit www.AlbaughSpecialty.com.
