The 2024 PGA TOUR’s Swing on Celebration® Bermudagrass

Players Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass The Island Green hole 17

The 2024 PGA TOUR teed off its 109th season at The Sentry Tournament in January on Celebration® Bermudagrass at the Plantation Course at Kapalua on Maui. Now, over a month into the season, golf enthusiasts will witness the popular bermudagrass on four consecutive tournament courses.

The Cognizant Classic (formerly the Honda Classic), held at PGA National Members Club in Palm Beach Gardens, FL, will take place Feb. 29 – March 3, 2024 followed by the Arnold Palmer Invitational held at Bay Hill Golf Course in Orlando. Both courses have used Celebration for many years.

Following the Arnold Palmer Invitational, THE PLAYERS Championship occurs at the legendary Players Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL Mar 14–17, 2024. The PLAYERS Stadium Course converted to Celebration on fairways, tees and approaches in 2011.

The Director of Golf Course Maintenance Operations at TPC Sawgrass, Jeff Plotts, shared that members and players compliment how good the fairways look and play when it comes to this grass selection for their tournament course. He also explained Celebration performs well in both fairway cut and rough cut, works well in filtered sun and light shade environments, is vigorous in divot recovery from damaged areas and that Celebration handles wear very well.

While most of the beauty shots of the course are overseeded, Plotts explained Celebration does excellent in both establishment and recovery from overseeding.

“Every year is a new challenge in preparing for the PLAYERS Championship and offers excitement for our outstanding team. I personally enjoy experiencing it with new staff members and our 90+ volunteer team from all over the world,” Plotts shared one month ahead of the tournament. “But, honestly, I’m always excited for the next one as we continue to grow, learn and look for ways to build on our successes. Sounds cliché, but it is the motivation to become better for the best players in the world.”

The final stop of this month-long Celebration swing on the PGA TOUR will be the Valspar Championship at Copperhead Course at Innisbrook Resort at Palm Harbor, FL Mar 21–24, 2024.

After this run of four straight, two other events feature Celebration. The RBC Heritage at Harbour Town and the Zurich Classic of New Orleans at TPC Louisiana both tee off starting in mid-April.
