“This award means everything to me,” said Holyk. “It is very important to be able to represent my fellow PGA professionals in this atmosphere and to be recognized by them. We have incredible support at Mountain View. We have fantastic members, a great staff, great leadership from the board, and the general manager, Marco Sotomayor. Richie Valenzuela, the Assistant Golf Professional of the Year, has been fantastic to work with.”
The Golf Professional of the Year award is designed to recognize a Desert Chapter golf professional who has demonstrated overall performance as a golf professional, leadership, service, and promotion of the game of golf. Overall performance at his facility, level of service to the PGA Section and to the Association, and image as a golf professional is some criteria considered for this award.
The Assistant Golf Professional of the Year award distinguishes the overall performance as a golf professional, leadership, service, and promotion of the game of golf. This nominee reflects the qualities and image that promote the PGA Professional to his members and facility.
The Desert Chapter of the PGA, one of five chapters within the Southern California PGA section, has 332 members.
Holyk joined Mountain View in 2011. In 2019, the Desert Chapter PGA Section recognized Valenzuela with its “PGA Assistant Professional of the year” award.
