Applications Now Open for the 9th Annual Green Start Academy
Assistant superintendents may apply now for the opportunity to attend premier educational and networking event
Cary, N.C. (May 19, 2014) – John Deere Golf and Environmental Science, a division of Bayer CropScience LP, today announced the application process for the 9th Annual Green Start Academy (GSA) is open to assistant superintendents in the U.S. and Canada. Assistant superintendents looking to advance their careers, hone their skills in critical areas like labor management and budgeting and meet prominent professionals in the field are encouraged to apply.
GSA will take place on October 15-17 at the Bayer Development and Training Center in Clayton, N.C., and the John Deere Turf Care factory in nearby Fuquay-Varina. Those in attendance will network with fellow professionals and gain insights from top industry leaders. Fifty assistant superintendents will be selected as participants, and will receive an expense-paid trip to attend the highly-regarded event.
“For nine years, we’ve been honored to help create the opportunity for assistant superintendents to grow professionally and personally through this unique program that connects them to leading superintendents from across the United States and Canada,” says Mark Ford, marketing manager for John Deere Golf. “We are also incredibly appreciative of the superintendent panelists who generously share their time and expertise with the assistants selected for the program.”
Assistant superintendents interested in attending should complete the online application, which includes submitting a resume and cover letter.
“We continue to be impressed by the quality of applicants and their commitment to advancing their careers,” says David Wells, golf business manager for Bayer’s turf and ornamentals business. “These men and women represent the future of our industry, and we are eager to play our part by providing the tools they need to succeed.”
Consideration is given to all applicants, from every type of club and course. An independent panel of golf industry experts will select the 50 highest-ranked applicants. Those who are selected to attend will be notified by mid-August.
