Water Valley officials will continue their annual “Operation Thank You” complimentary Pelican Falls golf privileges for active United States military personnel and veterans beginning on Monday.
The free golf offer will continue until Nov. 10, the day before Veterans Day.
“We would be honored to open up our golf course to these men and women,” said Martin Lind, owner and developer of Water Valley. “In light of the trying economic climate we’re all experiencing, we feel the timing of this program for our vets and military personnel will be greatly appreciated.
“It is our way of expressing our gratitude for their commitment and sacrifices.”
Having used the name “Operation Thank-You” since the program’s inception, Water Valley is seeking to raise the awareness of the sacrifices and demands asked of military personnel as Veteran’s Day approaches.
Lind said it is especially important to do this during these times when the ongoing conflict in the Middle East has lasted longer than most Americans expected it would.
Active United States military personnel and veterans should call the Pelican Lakes Golf Course pro shop at 674-0930 to request golf reservations during the available times.
Complimentary golf privileges on the Pelican Falls 9-hole course are good for Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Active United States military personnel and veterans are eligible for two complimentary rounds of golf each at the Pelican Falls Golf Course during the designated times and days.
Proper credentials signifying active United States military or veteran identification will also be needed to qualify for the complimentary rounds of golf when checking in on the day of play.
The month of free golf will end with a Veteran’s Day recognition ceremony at 9 a.m. on Nov. 11 at the Pelican Lakes clubhouse.
The public is invited to attend the ceremony as the Union Colony Marines Color Guard and Windsor Middle school band and choir perform a medley of patriotic musical compositions.
