Two Turning Stone Resort Golf Courses Highlighted Among America’s 100 Greatest Public Courses by Golf Digest (Jan 9)

January 9, 2015 – The premier golf courses at Turning Stone Resort Casino in Central New York were honored this week among America’s 100 Greatest Public Courses for 2015-2016 by Golf Digest, one of the sport’s leading publications. The resort’s Atunyote and Kaluhyat courses were named to the prestigious biennial ranking for the third consecutive time. The world-class courses at Turning Stone accounted for two of the three courses in the entire state of New York to make the list.

Established in 1966 and released every two years, Golf Digest calls the list the “game’s oldest ranking.” The publication’s panelists play the various courses and score each based on seven criteria – shot values, resistance to scoring, design variety, memorability, aesthetics, conditioning and ambience. A course must have at least 25 evaluations over the past eight years to be eligible for Golf Digest’s America’s 100 Greatest Public Courses.

“What an incredible honor to once again be named to Golf Digest’s distinguished list of America’s 100 Greatest Public Courses,” said Director of Golf Operations Miles Blundell. “As with all aspects of the resort, Turning Stone aims to provide an exceptionally enjoyable, memorable and rewarding experience on our golf courses. It’s extremely gratifying to have our hard work and commitment to excellence recognized with this prestigious and valued distinction.”

Last month, Turning Stone’s Kaluhyat and Atunyote, as well as its Shenendoah course, were each hailed among Golfweek’s Best Casino Courses for 2015. Atunyote, Shenendoah, and Turning Stone’s Golf SuperStore were also selected for esteemed 2015 AGM Platinum Awards.

In addition, Atunyote and Turning Stone’s Golf Dome were ranked in the Top 50 Golf Ranges by the Golf Range Association of America.

Turning Stone offers guests pro-level golf play amid spectacular views and picturesque settings. The resort’s courses have been host to some of the sport’s biggest names such as Tiger Woods, Dustin Johnson and Rickie Fowler. Turning Stone has also held several professional golf events in recent years including the PGA Tour, the PGA Professional National Championship, B.C. Open and the Turning Stone Resort Championship. The resort’s Atunyote Golf Course also serves as the host of the annual Notah Begay III Foundation Challenge charity tournament each year.

In addition to world-class golf, Turning Stone also offers vast entertainment options, award-winning hotels and restaurants and chart-topping entertainment. Its sprawling 3,400 acre complex welcomes more than 4.5 million guests a year and will soon be adding a luxury retail outlet and entertainment complex to its list of diverse offerings.
