Daniel Miller is the new golf course superintendent at Monarch Beach Golf Links in Dana Point. He joins the staff at the Robert Trent Jr.-designed course after nearly seven years at Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, where he managed the turfgrass program and collaborated with the PGA Tour each year in preparation for the Northern Trust Open.
“We are extremely pleased to have someone with Dan’s knowledge and ability managing the playing conditions at Monarch Beach Golf Links,” said general manager Eric Lohman. “This is a challenging time for golf courses. Dan understands where we are and what is needed to maintain the superior quality golf we offer.”

After studying plant pathology, chemistry, and entomology at the University of Hawaii, Miller graduated from North Dakota State with a degree in sports turfgrass management. At Monarch Beach, Miller, 30, will be responsible for upkeep and maintenance of the course as well as the 26-acre adjacent city park and the 30 acres of the surrounding landscape that transitions the golf course into the neighboring residences.
“The most important thing I learned from being at Riviera is that if you are going to do something, be excellent at it,” said Miller, who lives in Seal Beach, with his wife, Kristin. “With all the natural beauty of the resort and the golf course, it is a great privilege to be part of the team at Monarch Beach Golf Links.”
