Landscapes Unlimited, the leading golf course developer and construction company, has promoted Cheryl Halvorsen from Senior Irrigation Estimator to a project management role.
A 26-year veteran of Landscapes, Halvorsen is one of the golf industry’s most respected irrigation experts. While continuing to work closely with irrigation designers and distributors, golf course architects, property owners, and Landscapes’ field managers, her keen attention to detail will be leveraged in managing installations during project executions.”
Landscapes’ project management framework includes activity and resource planning, organizing and motivating project teams, monitoring time management, and progress, cost estimating and budget development, analyzing and managing project risk, and ultimately realizing client satisfaction.
“It is extremely fulfilling to be a central part of the entire irrigation process, helping golf courses operate efficiently and profitably,” says Halvorsen. “A thorough review of plans and specifications, overlaid with a deep knowledge of installation practices, are keys to preempting challenges before they show up in the field.”
“Industry surveys show that course conditions are often the No. 1 reason golfers play one course over another,” says Jake Riekstins, Chief Development Officer of Landscapes. “Cheryl’s institutional knowledge and unmatched project focus serve as the foundation for our quality installs, affording owners and operators opportunities to maintain their golf courses to the highest possible standards.”
Halvorsen’s quality work spans public, private, resort, and community golf courses in America and abroad. Her adaptability to myriad budgets, topographies, and climates has earned considerable praise from industry cohorts, including her work for the City of San Diego around its Torrey Pines South Course for the 2021 U.S. Open.
Halvorsen is one of the first women to earn a B.S. in construction management from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Away from the Landscapes office, she typifies the company’s “giving back” culture. Founder of a food pantry in her hometown of Syracuse, Nebraska, Halvorsen was also the project coordinator of the community’s new library and integral to the construction of a new soccer complex.
