After overcoming major challenges – including two major hurricanes last fall – a total restoration of the Donald Ross-designed Dunedin Golf Club is completed, and it reopened for play. A ceremonial ribbon-cutting ceremony was held February 15, 2025, though the course has been open for public play since late December. With assistance from superintendent Dennis Swander, the city of Dunedin’s General Manager of Golf Operations, Blair Kline, oversaw the renovation – designed by Kris Spence and built by contractor TDI/XGD – to a successful completion despite many obstacles.
The Washington State native is proud and excited about how things turned out. “We got notified that we are on the list for ‘Best Renovation’ from Golf Digest and Golfweek. It may be a longshot but, hopefully, maybe an Honorable Mention,” Kline said.
There’s still some work to do at the facility. “I think once the cart paths are finished, the maintenance building is established, driving range upgraded and short-game area completed we will hold our own with any other municipal golf course,” Kline added.
