Integrity Golf to operate Capital City Country Club (Dec 29)

December 29, 2014 – Integrity Golf Company has announced it will be overseeing club operations at Capital City Country Club in Tallahassee, Fla., pursuant to a long-term arrangement with its members. This represents Integrity Golf’s foray into the Florida Panhandle.

Nestled amongst beautiful rolling hills and covered in tall pines and large moss-draped oaks, Capital City Country Club is a picturesque 18-hole course designed by renowned architect A.W. Tillinghast. It is located less than two miles from the Florida State Capitol.

In addition to a championship course, this historic club also comprises a swimming pool, five tennis courts (three hard; two clay), dining and banquet facilities, fully equipped locker rooms, and golf pro shop.

“It’s a privilege for our company to be associated with Capital City’s membership and this one-of-a-kind property,” Integrity Golf CEO Gene Garrote said. “We’re eager to help rejuvenate this historic golf and country club and turn it into Tallahassee’s most desirable golf and leisure destination.”

Capital City’s membership noted Integrity Golf’s future capital commitments and mutually shared club vision as the main reasons they were selected as the club’s new operators.

“I appreciate that Integrity saw the potential in our club and they were willing to invest in our infrastructure,” club president Jim Pfeil said. “The fact they are financially sound was important. There was an instant feeling that Integrity Golf saw things differently from others we talked to and they have a different business model.”

Capital City’s roots go back more than 100 years when Tallahassee Country Club was originally organized in 1908 as a small golf course and tennis courts on the grounds of a private estate known as The Grove. Before the end of the 1920s, Capital City grew to nine holes with and a new clubhouse was constructed on the north side of the present 13th hole.

In the mid-to-late 1930s, while under ownership of the City of Tallahassee, Tillinghast was hired to design a championship 18-hole layout. It remained a municipal course until May 1956, when the newly chartered Capital City Country Club, including many of the original Tallahassee Country Club members, assumed control of the club.
