GCBAA to Honor Rick Elyea for Outstanding Service

Known throughout the golf industry for his commitment to providing turfgrass education, customer satisfaction and quality products, Rick Elyea of JacklinGolf is being bestowed with the Perry Dye Service Award by the Golf Course Builders Association of America (GCBAA).

The GCBAA periodically presents the Perry Dye Service Award to a member who unselfishly contributes above and beyond the call of duty to make positive changes in the Association. The award will be presented at the GCBAA’s summer meeting annual awards dinner being held on Thursday, Aug. 12, in Milwaukee.

“Rick has not only been an active and important member of our organization, but he has spearheaded numerous projects and activities in several other golf-related organizations as well,” said Paul Foley, GCBAA executive director. “We are excited to honor him specifically for the service he has given to the GCBAA and the overall golf industry.”

With over 30 years of seed knowledge, experience and respected relationships around the world, Elyea continues to promote Simplot’s vision of “Bringing Earth’s Resources to Life” and adds great depth to providing agronomic support for golf courses and educating distributors while promoting Simplot seed and fertilizer products.

As an active participant in various industry chapters such as the GCBAA, the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA) and the Oregon Golf Course Superintendent Association, Elyea stays involved and current on matters that concern golf. He has served as vice president and secretary on the board of directors for the GCBAA and secretary/treasurer of GCBAA Foundation. Elyea has also served on numerous committees for the board for over two decades.

With a bachelor’s degree specializing in turf management from Iowa State University, Elyea has used his education and 30 years of experience to conduct seminars and provide advice on proper turfgrass selection and proper maintenance practices.
