Alpine Country Club Begins Golf Course Renovation Project

Alpine Country Club, located approximately 30 miles south of Salt Lake City in Highland, Utah, recently began an enhancement project that includes golf course renovation and modernization of golf course bunkers, new golf cart paths, and enlarging and improving the existing practice range and putting green. John Fought Design is overseeing the project while Duininck Golf is the primary contractor responsible for the construction of the project. Course enhancements began in mid-July and are expected to be completed this fall.

Alpine’s golf course bunkers were last updated in 2006. As part of the current project, select bunkers will be repositioned, while all golf course bunkers will be regraded, reshaped, and rebuilt incorporating the Better Billy Bunker™ method, which provides a technically advanced drainage and liner system. The new bunkers are expected to last for well over a decade and offer superior consistency regardless of weather conditions. In addition to bunker renovations, new tee boxes will be added on holes 9, 12, and 14. New and improved concrete cart paths will also be added throughout the facility and strategically re-routed to better accommodate golfers.

During golf course renovations, the practice range tee area and practice putting green will be expanded to accommodate Alpine Country Club’s growing membership. The practice range tee area will be expanded to 22,000-square-feet (an increase of 37 percent), leveled and re-sodded. Plus, a new TurfHound artificial tee surface will be added to the back of the practice tee. In addition, a new 8,000-square-foot practice putting green will be 78 percent larger than the previous green.

“As one of the premier private clubs in the Mountain West, we consistently strive to improve and enhance our golf course and club amenities,” said Neil Maurer, general manager, Alpine Country Club. “By taking these steps to improve an already amazing golf course, we look to further elevate the club’s brand and reputation on a national level.”

Alpine Country Club is managed by Troon Privé, the private club operating division of Troon®. For more information about Alpine Country Club, visit www.AlpineCountryClub.org or call 801-226-1736.
