Wesco Turf, Inc. Acquires 100+ Year Old Hector Turf

Wesco Turf, one of The Toro Company’s (NYSE: TTC) top North American distributors of irrigation, golf, and grounds equipment, has acquired Hector Turf, another trusted Toro distributor headquartered in Deerfield Beach, FL. The official announcement was made to the teams at Hector Turf and Wesco Turf on July 29, 2022. The transaction is effective August 1, 2022.

The acquisition of Hector Turf will provide additional scale to Wesco’s golf, grounds, and residential landscape businesses.  Wesco Turf’s resources in IT infrastructure systems, parts ecommerce website, operations, service management, human resources, and training will provide the platforms to complement services to Hector Turf’s customers.

“We are excited to welcome Hector Turf into Wesco’s corporate portfolio. Hector Turf has strong brand equity and market-leading share across key business categories in south Florida and the Caribbean.  Former principal of Hector Turf Jim Mantey left behind an impressive legacy that will live on through this merger of outdoor power equipment equals,” said Wesco Turf’s president, Billy Gamble.  “Hector Turf and Wesco Turf have worked together as peers for decades and this union will further enhance our ability to provide customers with a seamless experience.”

“The acquisition of Hector Turf fits into Wesco Turf’s strategic, revenue objectives and mission of creating loyal customers.  As investments in autonomous and GPS technologies redefine the turf equipment industry, Hector Turf will provide additional horsepower to keep Wesco Turf in a leadership position,” concluded Gamble.

Sandra Mantey, Hector Turf’s co-principal with Jim Mantey for 29 years and current President, commented, “We are a natural fit for Wesco Turf, two strong family-owned and operated businesses.  I believe the Mantey family legacy will continue and be greatly enhanced under Billy Gamble’s leadership. I expect this merger to be seamless to our customers. Our employees have found a great new home within Wesco Turf.”

Hector Turf’s 50+ associates will join the Wesco Turf team. The two companies will market under two brands: Wesco Turf in Central/North Florida and southern Georgia and Hector Turf in South Florida, Puerto Rico, and most Caribbean Islands. The corporate headquarters for the combined entity will reside in Sarasota, FL, operating as Wesco Turf, Inc.

Hector Turf was advised by Cross Keys Capital and received legal advice from Berger Singerman LLP.  Wesco Turf received legal advice from Williams Parker.

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
