SOLitude Lake Management, a nationwide environmental firm, is excited to announce another successful year in the history of the company’s dedicated volunteering and community outreach program, The SOLution. The SOLution fosters SOLitude’s core company values by encouraging and rewarding volunteerism, activism, outreach and fundraising. Since the program was established in 2012, SOLitude’s employees, partners and their families have generated more than 16,877 volunteer hours and donated $518,855 to charitable organizations and causes throughout the country.
To make volunteering more accessible, SOLitude’s dedicated volunteer team captains arrange many of the community outreach programs the team takes part in each year, including Earth Day, Heart & SOL Day, Love Your Lake, Little GOBBLERS and HOLiday Cheer efforts, as well as trash and wildlife clean-ups, food bank backpack programs, kids and nursing home fishing tournaments, native tree and vegetation plantings, and animal welfare events. These 2019 initiatives resulted in 3,854 volunteer hours contributed to non-profit charitable organizations.
Each year, SOLitude identifies a charitable organization to serve as the recipient of year-long donation efforts. In 2019, the company selected charity: water, a non-profit that introduces clean water resources to communities in developing countries. For each new follower SOLitude received on social media, the company set aside funds that culminated in a $3,000 donation aimed at providing 100 people with a lifetime of access to healthy drinking water. Remaining donation funds determined by a colleague vote were allotted to Habitat for Humanity, the American Red Cross, the Virginia Beach SPCA, and the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Final philanthropic highlights from 2019 include the kick-off of SOLitude’s first annual Heart & SOL Day, the creation of the Tucker Student Venture Creation Fellowship Endowment at James Madison University and the contribution of the first-ever SOLitude Lake Management Graduate Study Award to SUNY Oneonta (State University of New York College).
“We are honored to know that our volunteering initiatives are making a lasting difference in the communities in which we serve,” Tracy Fleming, Director of Marketing & Communications said. “Through everything we do, our goal is to leave the world better than we found it. We hope to inspire others to adopt that same mindset and look forward to working with clients, partners and our neighbors in the community to build upon these efforts in 2020.”
