United States Patent for SonicSolutions Algae Control LLC and Diversified Power International, LLC

SonicSolutions Algae Control LLC, located in Northampton, MA, is pleased to announce at WEFTEC 2019 in Chicago, that the manufacturer of the Hydro BioScience® product line, of which they are the leading worldwide distributor, received a United States Patent for its algae control system using ultrasound technology. The technology is patent-pending in numerous other countries.

Manufactured by Diversified Power International, LLC (DPI), a Piney Flats, Tennessee manufacturing facility, the Hydro BioScience® (HBS) product line includes two models, Quattro-DB® and Mezzo-DB™, and provide over 2,000 frequencies in one transducer head. The algae control range can reach up to 120 acres of coverage for blue-green algae with a single unit. The HBS product line uses the new technology described in the recently issued patent.

George Hutchinson, CTO and VP of Operations at SonicSolutions Algae Control LLC was intimately involved in the design of the Quattro-DB® ultrasound unit. After years of experience working with competitive products, in 2015, Hutchinson decided it was time to develop a 360° unit that would provide the most frequency coverage and algae kill zone in a durable and affordable model.

DPI also manufactures smart battery chargers in their Piney Flatts location and is ecstatic to have received this patent for the HBS line.

Ultrasound technology has been in use for non-chemical algae control since the late 1990’s and has quickly grown in popularity among municipalities, golf courses, wineries and many more industries as an alternative to chemical algae control.
