Training session set on turfgrass pest management

Highlands County Extension will host a training session Basics of Turfgrass Pest Management in Sebring.

It will be held from 8 a.m. … 4:30 p.m. April 1 at the Bert J. Harris Jr. Agricultural Center.

The training is for certified pest management professionals and other landscape management personnel seeking to increase their pest management skills and knowledge and possibly leading to additional licensing.

Registration is $30. This includes CEUs, handouts, continental breakfast, lunch and snacks throughout the day.

Checks should be made payable to Commercial Horticulture Advisory Council. The deadline is March 28.

There will also be hands-on exercises including equipment calibration, granular application best practices, liquid application best practices, calibrations for determining proper pesticide application and dry pesticide spill drill.
