Tee-2-Green, the leading worldwide marketer of bentgrass varieties for golf courses, has elected Terry Plagmann as the organization’s new president.
Plagmann, who previously held the office of secretary and has been president of the Penncross Bentgrass Growers Association for more than three decades, was nominated as the new president of Tee-2-Green during the organization’s annual meeting of stockholders in December.
In 1958, Plagmann began growing Penncross bentgrass with his father, Clifton Plagmann, one of the founders of the Association. A fourth-generation farmer, Terry Plagmann manages Plagmann Farms Inc., a family century farm in Albany, Oregon. He raises bentgrass, perennial ryegrass and fescue turfgrass seed, along with vegetable seed and wine grapes.
“Tee-2-Green is a unique company in the seed industry in that it is owned by the farmers who grow the bentgrass, which is then sold worldwide by the organization,” said Plagmann. “It’s very satisfying knowing a lot of people are benefiting from the turf for which we provide the seed.”
