Circling Raven Golf Club – the No. 1-rated public course in Idaho – continues exceeding business performance this year across multiple categories. Through August, the Coeur d’Alene Casino Resort Hotel amenity shows growth in total revenue, retail sales, total golf rounds played, and stay-and-play packages sold.
A primary driver of this success stems from the Coeur d’Alene Tribe’s sustained investment in the acclaimed resort amenity. It commissioned Gene Bates, the course designer, to draft a master plan ensuring that Circling Raven, which celebrated the 15th anniversary of its first full season this year, not only maintains its renowned quality and attributes, but enhances them. A focus on revitalizing the retail operation, as well as aggressively marketing its value-laden Stay and Play Packages, paid dividends.
The Tribe hired David Christenson, PGA, as Director of Golf. Christenson opened the course and spent several years guiding it to national acclaim with his resort and golf club colleagues before moving on. Superintendent Brian Woster, GCSAA, has led the agronomy department since Circling Raven opened, and the course conditions are regularly cited by golfers as one of the golf club’s greatest assets.
Conducting an in-depth survey of its golfer database this year provided crucial feedback from past and present patrons. Signing a three-year deal with the Symetra “Road to the LPGA” Tour was another key move. Named the Circling Raven Championship, it will bring some of the world’s best women professional golfers to compete at the award-winning course, commencing August 24-30, 2020.
A multi-million-dollar casino renovation completed last spring drew many more visitors, including a significant increase of stay and play golfers.
“Coeur d’Alene Tribe’s mission is to improve the quality of life for our members through operating successful enterprises while maintaining our cultural integrity and traditions,” said Francis SiJohn, CEO, CDA Casino Resort Hotel. “Circling Raven, which was named for one of our greatest leaders, exemplifies our commitment to excellence. We will continue to exceed our guests expectations through it, the casino resort hotel, and our other amenities, including our spa, restaurants, entertainment programs, cultural tourism activities, and more.”
Circling Raven will remain open until late October. For more information about the course or casino resort, call 800-523-2464 or visit Circling Raven’s website.
