Rain Bird Bolsters Its Commitment to Building Awareness of Global Water Issues as a Sponsor of the International Water Forum at the United Nations

Rain Bird Joins Leading Experts from the Public and Private Sectors on September 16th at the UN to Call for a Shared Global Agenda for Sustainability in the Face of an Evolving Global Water Crisis

Rain Bird Corporation announced today that it is advancing its company-wide commitment to build awareness of the need to use water more efficiently as a presenting sponsor of the International Water Forum at the United Nations. Set for September 16th, 2011, and scheduled to coincide with the opening of the 66th United Nations General Assembly, the International Water Forum will feature in-depth discussions, presentations and expert panels addressing the need for building a global awareness and education campaign aimed at the impending global water crisis.

As a presenting sponsor of the historic daylong event, a representative from Rain Bird will participate in discussions on potential solutions to the myriad water issues facing developed and developing countries alike, and articulate the necessity of a global education and awareness campaign.

“Rain Bird’s participation in the International Water Forum, is a natural evolution for the company’s commitment to water conservation and the Intelligent Use of Water,” said Dave Johnson, Rain Bird’s Director of Corporate Marketing. “This forum is a huge step toward developing a coordinated effort to raise public awareness and spur meaningful action around the globe in the form of plans, policies, education and ultimately solutions to the World’s water issues.”

Organized by the Energy and Water Institute of New York and The Chronicles Group in cooperation with The World Water Organization (WWO), WaterAid America and the United Nations Institute of Training and Research (UNITAR), the forum will feature presentations by notable leaders from a variety of sectors, including Ben Grumbles, President Clean Water America Alliance; Mary Ann Dickinson, President and CEO, Alliance for Water Efficiency; David Nahai, Former General Manager, Los Angeles Department of Water and Power; Malcolm Morris, Chairman, Millennium Water Alliance; Mr. Christopher Rochfort, CEO, Star Water Solutions, Australia; Katherine Bliss, Ph.D., Senior Fellow and Director, Project on Global Water Policy, Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS); Jean-Claude Seropian, Director of Operations and Maintenance, Suez Environnement; and numerous other experts from a broad array of fields and industries.

The keynote address will be given by Patricia Mulroy, General Manager of the Southern Nevada Water Authority (SNWA) and following the keynote, actress/activist Jane Seymour will present a short film addressing the crippling effects of the world’s water crisis. Author of The Big Thirst: The Secret Life and Turbulent Future of Water Charles Fishman will give a special address as the luncheon speaker.
