Quitno Golf is expanding its portfolio of golf course design and renovation work with a new private club in Mississippi, returning-client projects in Wisconsin and Nebraska, course improvements in Illinois and the revival of a closed public course in Kansas.
The latest developments, outlined in the second edition of the firm’s Online Showcase, reflect a wide-ranging approach that includes new course construction, bunker renovation, practice-facility improvements, par-3 golf, putting courses and the restoration of existing properties.
Leading the new project lineup is a private golf club in Mississippi being designed by Quitno Golf in partnership with fellow golf course architect Nathan Crace. Construction is scheduled to begin in September, with additional project details expected to be announced as work progresses.
Quitno Golf is also using artificial intelligence as a visualization tool to help clients understand how planned golf holes and course features could appear when completed. The firm clearly identifies these conceptual images as AI-generated rather than finished-course photography.
At Westmoor Country Club in Brookfield, Wisconsin, Quitno Golf is continuing a relationship that began more than two decades ago.
The private club’s design carries the influence of Golden Age architect William Langford, particularly in its bold contours and steep-sided green complexes. In 2024, Quitno Golf rebuilt Westmoor’s greenside bunkers and expanded several putting surfaces. The firm is returning this fall to renovate the fairway bunkering and complete the current phase of work.
Quitno Golf has also returned to Indian Creek Club in Elkhorn, Nebraska, where the firm previously renovated and reimagined all 27 holes between 2010 and 2012.
The club invited Quitno Golf back in late 2025 to upgrade its practice facilities as Indian Creek prepared to host the Korn Ferry Tour’s Pinnacle Bank Championship.
The project extended the practice range by approximately 75 yards and introduced a new putting and short-game facility, including a private practice area at the far end of the range. The improvements were completed in time for the tournament and accompanied the club’s newly renovated clubhouse.
At Mt. Hawley Country Club in Peoria, Illinois, Quitno Golf recently completed an efficient renovation of the 18-hole course with assistance from Hollembeak Construction.
The approximately $1 million project included renovated bunkers and other visual enhancements. Native fescues and textured fairway mowing further strengthened the course’s appearance while demonstrating how targeted improvements can significantly refresh an established golf property without requiring a complete reconstruction.
Quitno Golf’s latest work also illustrates the growing demand for alternative golf facilities that engage families, juniors and players who may not be seeking a traditional 18-hole experience.
At Valley Lo Club in Glenview, Illinois, the firm is working with Golf Creations to renovate an unusual 18-hole, par-3 course located at a private club primarily known for tennis. The front nine is expected to reopen in spring 2027, with the back nine scheduled to follow in 2028.
At Shepherd’s Crook Golf Course in Zion, Illinois, Quitno Golf recently completed a new putting course named The Bellwether. The project joins approximately half a dozen putting courses the firm has designed, ranging from roughly 18,000 to 33,000 square feet.
These amenities are intended to encourage golfers to remain on property before and after their rounds while also providing an approachable golf experience for families and visitors who may not be playing a traditional round.
Another significant project is the planned revival of Stone Ridge Golf Course in Great Bend, Kansas.
The 18-hole course closed several years ago and was later donated to the Great Bend Recreation Commission. After remaining unused and overgrown, the property is now being brought back through the combined efforts of Quitno Golf and KemperSports.
Construction is planned to begin in 2026, with the restored public course targeted to open in 2028. Quitno Golf is again using clearly labeled AI-generated imagery to communicate the design vision and help stakeholders picture the property’s potential.
The new slate of projects follows the inaugural edition of Quitno Golf’s Online Showcase, which highlighted several completed and ongoing assignments.
Among them was the comprehensive renovation of the Country Club of Lincoln in Nebraska, completed in 2025 with Landscapes Unlimited. Quitno Golf reimagined the 106-acre private course through strategic rerouting, selective tree removal, shared fairways and a distinctive double-green complex serving holes 11 and 16.
The first Showcase also featured The Evans at Canal Shores, an 82-acre, par-60 public golf facility in suburban Chicago that opened in 2025 following work by Quitno Golf and Wadsworth. The multifaceted property includes an 18-hole short course, First Tee programming, a putting course, training facilities and a putting-only hole.
Additional projects included bunker work at The Merit Club and Heritage Bluffs Golf Club, the phased restoration of Devereux Emmet-designed Rye Golf Club in New York and continued improvements at Cantigny Golf in Wheaton, Illinois.
Together, the two Showcase editions demonstrate the breadth of Quitno Golf’s current work—from historic restoration and practical bunker improvements to new construction, championship-level practice facilities and alternative ways to experience the game.
