The PGA has announced that it will contribute $50,000 to the Australian Golf Industry Flood Disaster Relief Fund.
The Chairman of the PGA Mark Gibson made the announcement at the Cellarbrations QLD PGA Championship presentation, after an emotional week at City Golf Club in Toowoomba.
“Toowoomba has been through a lot over the last month and we are so greatful for the efforts of all involved with getting this course back up to such a fantastic standard,” said Gibson.
“We’re very proud to be involved with communities at this level. The players love getting out there and showcasing their game but one of the wonderful things that it does is that it shows the locals what great golfers are out there and inspires the next generation.”
“We thank the Toowoomba community for embracing this event and hope that what we have done here this week goes a little way towards rebuilding.”
In addition to the PGA’s donation the pros raised a further $2000 through fundraising throughout the week, including Peter O’Malley’s caddy auction.
