Meet Ecological Improvement Senior Environmental Consultant: Joseph Garavelli

At Ecological Improvements, we believe that protecting the environment starts with education, experience, and hands-on commitment. That’s why we’re proud to introduce Joseph Garavelli, Senior Environmental Consultant – someone whose passion for sustainability and compliance drives meaningful change across South Carolina’s landscapes.

We asked Joseph to share more about his role and what drives him to do this work every day.

From Joseph Garavelli:

As a Senior Environmental Consultant, I focus on two critical areas that affect nearly every project in development:

Erosion control and water quality.

Through targeted educational training, I work directly with contractors, engineers, and municipalities to ensure teams not only understand current regulations but also implement best practices that lead to cleaner, more sustainable outcomes. Whether in a classroom or out in the field, my goal is to empower others with the knowledge needed to protect our waterways and natural resources.

Beyond training, I’m also heavily involved in stormwater inspections, including Post-Construction BMP assessments. From stormwater ponds to conveyance systems, I help identify deficiencies, improve long-term maintenance plans, and recommend innovative, code-compliant solutions that meet local and state stormwater regulations.

My role also involves collaborating closely with clients. Whether it’s working with developers, municipal staff, or private landowners, I help diagnose challenges with pond function, erosion, or infrastructure. From there, I develop site-specific improvements and recommendations.

What I Bring to Ecological Improvements:

  • Deep field knowledge in BMP performance and inspection protocols
  • A passion for clean water and resilient infrastructure
  • The ability to translate regulatory language into real-world solutions
  • A commitment to building partnerships through education and transparency

Together with the Ecological Improvements team, I’m helping build better communities, one site at a time.
