Jacobsen Plays Key Role in Bay Hill Excitement

Jacobsen, a manufacturer of high-quality turf equipment, announced today that it helped play a key role in the Arnold Palmer Invitational Presented by MasterCard, which ended in dramatic fashion Sunday with Tiger Woods winning for the first time in two years.

The sprawling greens, cut each morning and evening by Jacobsen’s Eclipse series of walking greens mowers, were fast and firm all week, testing some of the world’s best players’ skill and patience. The challenging greens kept the field very tight all week, leading to one of the most exciting golf contests this year.

“With the Eclipse walkers from Jacobsen, we get a cleaner, more precise cut,” said Matt Beaver, Superintendent at Arnold Palmer’s Bay Hill Club & Lodge. “The machines definitely helped us keep things competitive during the week.”

The crew at Arnold Palmer’s Bay Hill Club & Lodge use Eclipse 118F and Eclipse2 walking greens mowers on the greens, helping them achieve consistently fast greens. Jacobsen Eclipse 322 and GP-400 riding greens mowers are used on the approaches and SLF-1880 fairway mowers on the fairways. The roughs, left to grow in to 3.5” for the tournament, are typically trimmed by Jacobsen’s AR-522 rotary mowers.

“Superintendent Matt Beaver and Equipment Manager Albert Sizemore do a wonderful job at Arnold Palmer’s Bay Hill Club & Lodge,” said David Withers, President of Jacobsen. “Our job is to provide them the tools they need to present world-class conditions. Working together, we delivered on that and the results were proven on a world stage.”
