Jacobsen ECLIPSE® Mowers Selected for Environmental Award

… Jacobsen’s ECLIPSE® series walking and riding greens mowers were recently selected as finalists for the 2012 Charlotte Chamber of Commerce’s Green Awards. The annual honors are given to Charlotte-area companies who offer innovative, green products or services that have less of an impact on the environment than traditional equivalents. Jacobsen is a Textron Inc. (NYSE: TXT) Company.

Jacobsen manufactures a full line of commercial-grade turf maintenance equipment at its facility in Charlotte. Jacobsen equipment is used worldwide on golf courses, sports fields and in municipal applications. The company’s product portfolio includes high-quality mowers, aerators and utility vehicles.
After carefully reviewing submissions from companies across the region, The Charlotte Chamber of Commerce selected Jacobsen’s ECLIPSE mowers as one of three finalists for the top award. The top winner will be chosen in late October.

“Jacobsen’s ECLIPSE mowers really stood out among the submissions because they have several layers of green attributes. Not only do the products significantly reduce oil and gas consumption, they also reduce particulate and noise emissions,” said Dale Gillmore, Charlotte Chamber GreenWorks award Chair.
Jacobsen’s ECLIPSE series walking and riding commercial-grade mowers are the only products in the industry to use true hybrid and all-electric technology to operate.

Last week, Group Engineering Manager Carlos Bellot presented an overview of Jacobsen and the ECLIPSE mowers to the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce.
“Golf course superintendents and sports field managers can save up to $5,000 a year in oil and fuel costs with the Jacobsen ECLIPSE mowers,” Bellot told the audience. “And because they run whisper-quiet, ECLIPSE machines can operate in residential areas without any nuisance.”

“As a proud Charlotte-based company, we appreciate the recognition bestowed on our products by the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce,” said David Withers, President of Jacobsen. “We will continue to design, develop and manufacture innovative products that benefit our customers, the environment and the industry.”
