In Winning The War Against The Spotted Lanternfly (Slf), Mauget’s Dinocide® Is Chosen As Most Effective Solution For Control Of Slf!

Studies by USDA/APHIS, have shown that Dinocide®, injectable dinotefuran exclusive to Mauget, the pioneers of micro-injection technology for trees, is the most effective treatment for controlling the invasive SLF.

On Feb. 7, 2019, more than 250 arborists, scientists and industry leaders met in Milford, MA for a conference on the destructive SLF.  Dr. Phil Lewis, USDA/APHIS/PPQ, presented research data from 2017 and 2018 studies on SLF.  This USDA/APHIS data clearly indicated that Mauget’s Dinocide® injectable is superior to all other chemical treatments analyzed.

Over the course of the day-long conference, research conclusively showed that the use of the systemic insecticides, dinotefuran (Dinocide®) and imidacloprid (Imicide®) were the most effective insecticides in battling SLF, showing significant kill of 3rd and 4th instar larvae within 4 hours of injection.

The SLF (Lycorma delicatula) is native to China and was first detected in Pennsylvania in September 2014.  SLF feeds on a wide range of fruit, ornamental and woody trees, with tree-of-heaven being one of its preferred hosts.  SLF are invasive and can be spread long distances by the movement of egg masses which are laid on any available substrate and are easily transported by human activities.  If allowed to spread in the United States, this pest could seriously impact the country’s grape, orchard, and timber industries, as well as other agricultural and horticultural crops.

SLF is now an established invasive species in eastern Pennsylvania, Delaware, New York, southwestern New Jersey, Virginia and is currently invading areas adjacent to these sites.

Mauget is a third-generation innovator of solutions for tree wellness, located in Arcadia, California.  For over 6 decades, Mauget has been the leader in developing products for the tree-care industry that are safe and effective for tree health, the public and the environment.
