Golf Course Superintendents/Owners Choose San Antonio for 2015 Event

When the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA) and the National Golf Course Owners Association (NGCOA) looked around for a place to host the 2015 Golf Industry Show and education conferences, they decided San Antonio, Texas, would be a good bet for 2015.

“Based on attendee feedback we selected San Antonio for the 2015 Golf Industry Show,” GCSAA Chief Executive Officer Rhett Evans said.

He added, “It is a new location that attendees and exhibitors want to go to and do business. It is a great addition to the Golf Industry Show lineup and another outstanding destination.”

Next year’s Golf Industry Show will be held Feb. 29-March 1, and the education conferences will be held Feb. 27-March 2 in Las Vegas.

“San Antonio is a perfect complement to the next three Golf Industry Show locations: Las Vegas, San Diego and Orlando,” NGCOA Chief Executive Officer Mike Hughes said. “San Antonio is an easy city to travel to and typically features pleasant weather that time of year.

He added, “We are very optimistic about the networking opportunities available there with the convention center being located on the Riverwalk, where there are so many hotels and restaurants.”

Attendees of the Golf Industry Show typically are owners/operators of golf facilities and the professional members of the golf course industry.

The event combines education, networking and solutions for golf course superintendents, owners, operators, architects, builders, equipment managers, appraisers and others, according to show officials.

The Golf Industry Show is presented by GCSAA and NGCOA, along with participating partners the American Society of Golf Course Architects the Golf Course Builders Association of America, the United States Golf Association, the National Golf Foundation, the International Golf Course Equipment Managers Association and supporting partner the Society of Golf Appraisers.

The 2015 show will be the second time that the GCSAA International Trade Show, which merged with the NGCOA Annual Conference to form the Golf Industry Show beginning in 2005, and Education Conference has been held in San Antonio. The first time was in 1978.

The NGCOA has never held its annual conference or trade show in San Antonio, according to show officials.

This year’s Golf Industry Show, held in February in Orlando, attracted 14,781 attendees, a 4-percent increase, compared with 2010, as well as 551 exhibitors spread across 180,000 net square feet of exhibit space at the Orange County Convention Center.
