Dr. John Kaminski joins GreenSight as Chief Agronomy Officer (Apr 14)

April 14, 2015 – GreenSight Agronomics has announced the appointment of Dr. John Kaminski to the role of Chief Agronomy Officer. Kaminski brings to the team an extensive background in turfgrass management and the implementation of new technology in the golf course industry.

“GreenSight strives to deliver reliable and actionable information to our customers,” said Joel Pedlikin, GreenSight COO. “By combining Dr. Kaminski’s expertise in identifying and solving agronomic challenges with our drone and imaging technology we can greatly reduce a golf course’s water and chemical usage while improving the quality of their turf.”

After earning his Ph.D in 2004 from the University of Maryland, Kaminski successfully started the turf pathology program at the University of Connecticut. In 2009, he returned to his alma mater, Penn State, to continue his research and serve as the director of the golf course turfgrass management program. His research has been integral in the discovery and identification of new turfgrass pests including bentgrass dead spot and most recently thatch collapse. Kaminski has earned numerous accolades for his efforts including the 2005 Musser International Award of Excellence and was recently named the Tombros early career professor in the college of agricultural sciences.

Golf course superintendents regularly seek out Kaminski’s turfgrass expertise. His research has been published in various scientific and trade journals and he has presented his findings to turfgrass managers throughout the world.
