Craft Turf Farms Now Licensed to Cultivate Lush Tahoma 31 Bermudagrass!

Sod Production Services, exclusive United States licensing agent for Oklahoma State University-developed drought-resistant, cold-tolerant Tahoma 31 Bermudagrass, announces that Craft Turf Farms has signed as the exclusive licensed producer of the grass in southern Alabama. Craft Turf Farms planted its first production fields this fall and should have grass ready for harvest by spring 2024.

“Craft Turf Farms has a solid reputation for growing high-quality grasses on their 1,200-acre farm in Foley, Alabama. We are excited to have them join the Tahoma 31 family and provide Tahoma 31 sod to landscaping companies, sports facilities, golf courses, home builders, and home lawns in the Gulf States,” said Chad Adcock, vice president of business development for Sod Production Services.

“We have been interested in this grass for quite some time. With some knowledge and background from new staff members and recent relationships we have made, it finally felt like the right time to move forward with Tahoma 31. With its remarkable cold tolerance, beautiful color and texture, proven performance at multiple heights of cut, overall growth habit, and increased popularity, we feel it will be the perfect grass to add to our portfolio and help set us apart in our region. We appreciate everyone at Sod Production Services who helped us advance through this process, and we are excited about our future with Tahoma 31!” said Chandler LeGault, farm manager for Craft Turf Farms.

Tahoma 31 Bermudagrass is among the most winter-hardy bermudagrasses on the market today. Tahoma 31 derives its name from the Native American word, Tahoma, which means frozen water.  Tahoma 31 was developed by leading turfgrass researchers at Oklahoma State University in response to a growing demand for a cold tolerant variety. Tahoma 31 is a fine textured, highly dense grass that offers exceptional cold tolerance, drought resistance, early spring green-up, wide geographic adaptability, an aggressive growth habit that heals quickly from wear, has excellent shade tolerance and salt tolerance. Tahoma 31 is found on the world’s leading sports fields and golf courses, as well as home lawns, in the Mid-Atlantic, Midwest, Southwest, South & Transition Zone. Tahoma 31 is licensed by Sod Production Services. For more information on Tahoma 31, visit Tahoma 31.com or @tahoma31.
