Cathy Harbin Launches New Venture (Jan 25)

January 25, 2015 – Cathy Harbin, a 28-year veteran in the golf industry, announces the launch of her own golf course management company , OnCourse Operations. Harbin has spent her career successfully driving revenue, managing operations and delivering both golf programming and instruction, all while creating memorable experiences. This lead to Harbin securing a strong reputation in operating profitable golf courses, and she sees this new venture as a natural next step.

“Cathy Harbin is a rare blend of operational expertise, coupled with national service and perspective,’ said Steve Mona, President and CEO of the World Golf Foundation. “She is one of the few people I know who has worked on the front lines of a wide variety of golf facilities, has overseen key strategic priorities of multiple golf facilities, yet has also worked with national leaders on issues impacting the health and vitality of the game on a macro level. She has also achieved a record of excellence at every stop during her distinguished career.”

Harbin served three years as Executive Director of Golf 20/20 where she gained valuable experience and knowledge through her widespread involvement in several national committees. Harbin has an unconditional commitment to growing the game and she will continue her relationship with the PGA of America and its Get Golf Ready program, a program she helped launch in 2009 while with Golf 20/20.

In addition to working with the PGA of America, Harbin’s client list is already growing with well-known brands such as Honours Golf and Arcis Golf.

During her four-year tenure with industry leader ClubCorp, Harbin oversaw golf revenue, programming, experiences and public golf.

“Cathy was instrumental in spearheading ClubCorp’s drive to recruit and engage more women, youth and casual golfers,’ ClubCorp CEO Eric Affeldt said. ‘She epitomizes all that is good about our sport and we are fully supportive of her new venture.’

Harbin will stay true to the principles that have been the foundation of her accomplishments. She calls her guiding principle the ‘Circle of Success’. This circle balances memorable experiences, team enjoyment and profits.

“Regardless of your task, when your focus is to ensure a balance between delivering memorable experiences, creating a good working environment for your team and producing profits, you will achieve success. It is tried and true and just takes commitment and execution to make it work,’ Harbin states.
