Brad Nelson to Lead Course & Grounds Team at St. Andrews Country Club Boca Rato

St. Andrews Country Club announces the addition of Brad Nelson to the professional staff as Director of Course & Grounds. A 22-year veteran in the golf industry, Nelson joins St. Andrews from PGA National Resort & Spa in Palm Beach, Florida where he served as Director of Argonomy directly responsible for tour conditions for the 2016-18 Honda Classic and 2013-15 WGC Cadillac Championships.

“Brad’s reputation and commitment to the highest standards makes him the ideal professional for St. Andrews Country Club,” COO/General Manager Craig D. Martin, C.C.M. said. “After an extensive interview process, Brad was the clear choice to meet and exceed our members’ expectations for both the Fazio II and the Palmer Course.”

Nelson’s proficient work has not gone unnoticed as he has received multiple awards highlighting his skillset, including 2016 IAGTO Sustainability award under GEO, 2014 Top 100 Golf Course, Golf Digest and Golf Weekly, The Blue Monster, 2014 Golf Inc. Renovation of the Year Runner-Up, Public, The Blue Monster, 2005 Golf Inc. Renovation of the Year, Private, The Breakers Rees Jones Course, 1999-2000 Hooters Golf Tour Public Course of the Year, Bay Tree Golf Plantation.

“When you have the reputation that St. Andrews Country Club has, of being such a distinguished club, the best of the best, there is never any doubt what the standard is for the property. I’m committed to providing a stellar member experience by highlighting the diversity of the two golf courses which is quite unique. The Fazio II golf course is truly a championship test of golf since the renovation, with a strategic approach to shot making and an emphasis on firm, fast conditioning, while the Palmer golf course offers a more traditional approach to the game in regards to sight lines and Green contouring,” Nelson commented. “My family and I are truly blessed to be a part of the St Andrews culture. I’m excited to share my vision and to lead the Agronomy team to ensure we deliver the goals set forth by Craig and the Board of Governors.”

Nelson is a current member of the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America, Palm Beach County Golf Superintendents Association, Florida Turf Grass Association and is a U.S.G.A. Member.
