Biral Completes Sale to Senseca, and Announces Leadership Transition

Biral, a leading provider of high-precision meteorological sensors, today announces the completion of its sale to Senseca, a global innovator in measurement technology and environmental monitoring solutions. This acquisition marks a new chapter for Biral. For the time being, the company will continue to operate under its own brand within the Senseca organization, further expanding its capabilities and market reach.

As part of this transition, Biral’s managing director, Paul Smith, will retire after decades of dedicated service. Under Paul’s leadership, Biral became a trusted partner for clients in critical sectors such as aviation, renewable energy, and transport infrastructure. Paul’s commitment to innovation and excellence has been instrumental in Biral’s growth and success.

Paul states “It has been an honour to lead Biral over the past years. I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved and how we’ve grown into a company recognised for our precision and reliability. I am confident that under Senseca’s management, Biral will continue to flourish and innovate in ways that benefit both our clients and the wider industry.”

Ben Lockwood, currently serving as Biral’s Finance Director, will step up as the new Managing Director. Ben brings a wealth of financial and operational experience to the role, and his leadership will ensure continuity as Biral integrates into Senseca.

Ben commented “I’m excited to step into this new role at such a pivotal time for Biral. As we join Senseca, we have a unique opportunity to leverage their global expertise and resources to strengthen our offering further. I look forward to continuing our legacy of innovation and delivering even greater value to our customers.”

The shareholders of Biral were advised by KPMG Corporate Finance (John Levis and Dan Bagnall) and Burges Salmon (Dominic Davis and Tom Curnow). Their expertise and guidance were invaluable throughout this M&A process.

Senseca is an ideal partner for Biral due to its shared focus on high-precision measurement technologies and strong alignment with Biral’s core mission of delivering accurate and reliable data across critical sectors. Senseca’s deep expertise in industrial and environmental sensor technology, alongside its commitment to sustainability and innovation, makes it a perfect match to support Biral’s growth and expansion.

Senseca‘s CEO, Christian Unterberger, stated “We are thrilled to welcome Biral to the Senseca family. Biral’s excellent reputation in visibility and present weather sensors, as well as its thunderstorm detection capabilities, will enhance Senseca’s global footprint in the renewable energy sector and significantly strengthen its environmental monitoring portfolio.”
