Australian Golf Courses Recognized in Global List

Three Australian Golf Courses have secured positions in this year’s golfscape’s World Top 100 Golf Courses: The West Course at Royal Melbourne Golf Club; Cape Wickham Links, King Island Tasmania; and Hamilton Island Golf Club.

golfscape was founded in 2013 with a vision to revolutionize the golf industry with technology for the modern golfer. Today, golfscape is an industry leader providing its reservations and operations services in over 30 golf destinations across Europe, Africa, Near East, and Asia-Pacific.

With the help of a wide panel of industry leaders, golfscape’s World Top 100 Golf Courses highlights the most sought-after golf experiences offered globally. From the Scottish highlands, to the shorelines of Punta Cana.

The courses were ranked out of 5 alongside the following criteria:

  • Course condition
  • Memorability
  • Aesthetics
  • Playability
  • Course facilities
  • Overall experience

The scores were added and an average was taken to place the golf courses in order from 1-100.

The panel also provided the following comments on the Australian courses they ranked.

#3 ranking: The West Course at Royal Melbourne Golf Club (pictured above)
The West Course has a rugged, natural character, accented by native grasses framing each hole. The bunkering is bold with large, beautifully contoured putting surfaces. Most holes are dogleg, meaning distance means nothing while angle into the pin is everything.

#16 ranking: Cape Wickham Links, King Island Tasmania
Cape Wickham quickly gained international recognition upon its completion in late 2015. It has since attracted golfers from all over the globe to its location on King Island. Surrounded by ocean views on all sides, and each hole varying from the last, this is a tribute to pure links golf not to be forgotten.

# 46 ranking: Hamilton Island Golf Club (pictured above)
The Hamilton Island Golf Club is the only 18-hole championship golf course on its own island in Australia. Designed by five-time British Open winner Peter Thomson, the par 71 course features two distinctly different nine-hole circuits and is beautifully surrounded by sparkling sea views.

golfscape’s OS platform delivers course operators next-generation tee sheets, member and visitor mobile apps, as well as revenue generating technologies and services. The golfscape team is dedicated to developing intelligent systems that empower the golf industry with tomorrow’s technology.
