Aquatrols continues its support of the Aquatrols Robert A. Moore Endowment Fund with a $10,000 donation in honor of its founder to the Environmental Institute for Golf, the philanthropic organization of the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA).
Moore, who was a strong advocate of GCSAA until his passing in 2010, founded Aquatrols in 1955. He was a GCSAA member for more than 50 years and had articles published in its flagship publication, GCM, beginning in 1957. The endowment in his name funds GCSAA research specifically for optimizing the growing environment for golf course turf, with specific goals for increasing the effectiveness of applied water, fertilizers and pesticides, and thereby reducing the total requirements.
Moore’s daughters, Tracy Jarman and Demie Moore, and son Andy Moore, all with Aquatrols, made the donation in honor of their father during the 2013 Golf Industry Show in San Diego in February.
“We are very fortunate to have a close relationship with Aquatrols and be able to continue the vision and hard work Bob Moore gave the golf course management industry,” GCSAA CEO Rhett Evans said. “This donation and the endowment gives us the opportunity to continue applied research that will further improve sustainable management of the growing environment by reducing inputs.”
Aquatrols is a supporter of the EIFG at the Platinum Tee Club level of donors who contribute $5,000 or more annually. Aquatrols is also recognized at the Governor’s Club level in the EIFG cumulative giving program for donating between $50,000 and $99,999 since 1987.
In addition to the donation made at the Golf Industry Show, Aquatrols also raised funds for the EIFG through an employee company match event as part of its Earth Day observation in April.
“As the person and company that invented and pioneered the use of soil wetting agents in the turf and ornamental industry worldwide, our family, we, and Aquatrols as a whole have always had a vision that extends beyond product sales,” said Jarman, Aquatrols president and CEO. “The goal of Aquatrols is to make positive contributions to more efficient, effective and environmentally sound uses of resources in the maintenance of turfgrass and production of ornamental plants.
“Considering that my father was in applied research before starting Aquatrols, and with applied research and development still central to Aquatrols’ mission, the establishment of a research endowment fund has been
