Located in Spring Valley, Ill., Aqua Control has been manufacturing water features since 1970. Their floating aerators and fountains are the result of extensive engineering to develop innovative new products with an emphasis on pumps that produce high volumes. Aqua Control has specially trained sales representatives at distributors from coast-to-coast, offering products ranging from ½ HP up to 40 HP with over 30 spray patterns.
All healthy bodies of water need oxygen for the normal biological cycle. In large bodies of water, this occurs naturally as a result of wave action. In smaller lakes and ponds, it is easy for biological factors to become unbalanced, causing the oxygen levels to drop, making it necessary for mechanical aeration.
Jerry Goldberg, Aqua Control’s national sales manager, told us that the company focuses on turf managers and how they maintain and treat their waterways. “We offer what I refer to as two categories: display aeration, and non-display aeration. If someone is interested in putting on a show while at the same time helping to aerate their water body, then that would be a floating fountain aerator. But, for example, if a private club’s membership and greens committee has decided that they don’t want to disturb the natural aquatic landscape, then we have lake bed aeration, or sub-surface aeration, where all you’re doing is aerating within the water body and therefore not showing a display above the surface. We also offer water management products in the form of our bacteria products that are typically applied monthly into the water.”
Aqua Control is developing what they expect will be two industry state-of-the-art aeration systems where the end-user has minimal service after their purchase. These systems are sealed, keeping water out and the lubricating factors inside the pump motor system.
“There comes a time where typically you have to do some maintenance. A unit is susceptible to failure if the aquatic environment it is placed in is harsh. We are trying to get to a point where they won’t have to do that maintenance, so we’re developing more maintenance-free and hands-free systems.
“Our competitors will tell you, Aqua Control has the most beautiful fountain display spray patterns in the industry. These are patented nozzle patterns that are easily interchangeable so that you have the ability to always be 100 percent satisfied.
“Aqua Control is an active member of the Aeration and Fountain Manufacturers Association (AFMA) so you can be assured that you are dealing with a company that presents the most accurate flow and pattern dimensions possible, and provides equipment to meet safety standards. Many of our product offerings are UL Listed, ETL Listed, CE and C-Tick certified,” Jerry explained.
